Tomatoes: A Taste of Summer—Seeded This Spring at Flower of Life

Tomatoes: A Taste of Summer—Seeded This Spring at Flower of Life

Few things say “summer” like the scent of sun-warmed tomato vines, and we’re laying the groundwork for that flavor right now in our spring greenhouses. Over the past few weeks, our benches have filled with trays of Brandywine, Green Zebra, Pineapple, GinFiz, and a dozen other heirloom and hybrid favorites—all started in healthy soil and watered sustainably. Every seed is non-GMO, and every sprout is hand-checked for vigorous white roots that tell us a seedling is ready to thrive.

We are proud of this season's harvest. Orange Hat and Micro Tom will give container gardeners a true patio powerhouse, while Costoluto Genovese and Speckled Roman promise sauce lovers serious depth of flavor. We’ve even tucked a row of Sungreen 4029 cherries into our tunnel so you can taste a burst of sweetness long before the Kansas summer heat kicks in.

If you’re local to Wichita, you’ll get the first look at these beauties at our Earth Day Starter-Plant Sale on Sunday, April 27. Pick up a transplant (or five), then chat with us about companion-planting basil, natural trellising ideas, or how to use our compost tea for that extra nutrient boost. Not ready to grow your own? No worries—we’ll have limited early-crop tomatoes ripening in our hoop house for late-spring markets, followed by field harvests that run straight through fall.

Whether you slice them thick for BLTs, roast them low and slow for sauce, or snack on them fresh off the vine, our tomatoes carry the same promise: chemical-free, soil-nourished, and grown for peak flavor. From seed tray to dinner plate, we tend every plant with intention—so you can taste summer in every bite, all season long and beyond.

Come see (and taste) the difference at Flower of Life Farm—where each tomato tells a story of regenerative soil, sunny days, and neighbors who care about real food as much as you do.
