From Farm to Table: Fresh-Picked, Wichita-Grown Goodness

At Flower of Life, “fresh” isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a timeline measured in minutes. Most mornings begin before sunrise as we walk the rows with harvest knives in hand, feeling the cool prairie air settle on dew-kissed leaves. We snip only what shows perfect color and texture—flash-green heads of lettuce, jewel-toned Rainbow chard, and radishes so fresh and crisp they practically sparkle. Within hours these harvested veggies are rinsed and prepared for sale, preserving every bite of nutrition Mother Nature intended.

Regenerative Roots

All of our beds are managed with organic, soil-building practices and zero synthetic inputs. Instead of chemical sprays, we rely on beneficial insects and manual weeding; instead of harsh fertilizers, we intentionally and naturally build up soil microbes that plants crave. The result? Produce that’s dense with minerals and flavor—and fields that grow healthier each season.

Seasonal Stars

  • Spring: Baby salad mixes and tender sugar-snap peas usher in the new growing year.

  • Summer: Heirloom zucchinis (Black Beauty, Costata Romanesco) and Suyo Long cucumbers steal the show, alongside sweet Italian peppers.

  • Fall: Robust kale, Scarlet Runner beans, and our celebrated Jing Orange okra thrive in the cooler light.

  • Winter Storage: We cure garlic, onions, and sunchokes so you can enjoy local veg even when frost blankets the farm.

How to Get Yours

  • Earth Day Starter-Plant Sale (Sun 4/27): Stock your home garden with the very seedlings we rely on.

More Than a Meal

Every bunch of greens or basket of squash carries our wider mission: to nourish bodies, uplift soil life, and reconnect our community to real food. When you bite into a just-pulled turnip or sauté our peppers for dinner, you’re sharing in a regenerative cycle that honors land, pollinators, and people alike.

Thank you for supporting small-scale, chemical-free agriculture. We invite you to chat veggies with us at market, or sign up for our email list. Together, we can cultivate a healthier table—one vibrant harvest at a time.
